Shopping for The Dress can be a very daunting experience. For many Brides-To-Be its uncharted territory so I've put together an ultimate guide to shopping for your wedding dress with some tips to get you started.
So you have found the love of a lifetime and now its time to find the dress of a lifetime. For some of you its what you've been dreaming of since you watched your first Disney movie, for others its a more alien concept but whether the idea of shopping for your wedding dress has you jumping for joy or breaking out in a cold sweat Zadika Bridal's ultimate guide will take away the stress and help it be a more fun filled and enjoyable experience.
Before You Go Shopping…
Know Your Budget
Wedding dresses come in all price ranges. You can get your dream dress on a small budget and you can also blow the bank but just know what your comfortable spending and if you have any wiggle room. This will help when you are shopping because you don't want to fall in love with a dress and then realise you'll have to skip the honeymoon to pay for it! The best way to avoid an unwanted surprise or shock about the price when you find your dream dress is to ask about the price range of dresses before you make an appointment. If the dresses you love are out of your price range ask about sample sales, you can get the same dresses at a fraction of the price. You can see our sale dresses here.
Do Your Research
Buy the wedding magazines, read the blogs, follow the Facebook pages, Instagram's and Pinterest boards and keep up to date with celebrity weddings. Do your research on the designers and the boutiques that stock them. Create your own scrapbook or Pinterest board of images of dresses you like. A lot of brides can change their mind on what their dream dress will be when they start trying some on, but a few photos will help you and us know where to start.
Your Wedding Dress In Real Time...
When To Start Shopping
Its important to have all the details of your wedding in place before you go shopping for your wedding dress since many factors can influence the style of the dress, for example the venue and the time of year. Once those are in place start to look around, do your research and book your appointments. Brides are always asking me if its too early to start shopping for their wedding dress, the answer is if your ready to buy your wedding dress its the perfect time to start shopping no matter how far away your wedding is. If you aren't ready to buy your dress yet then resist the temptation to go shopping 'just to see' you'll end up more confused in the long run.
Your Order Deadline
I love to see my brides order their dress 10 months out from their big day if they have the time, just for a stress free life, if you have the time, use it wisely, don't put yourself under pressure there will be enough things to do closer to the time without worrying about your dress. Wedding dresses are special order and take up to 6 months to be made in the factory or design house. You then have to allow for fittings and alterations which generally start 6 to 8 weeks before your wedding. Some dresses can be put on a rush order, usually at an extra cost, so if you don't have that much time, don't fret. I've dressed plenty of brides in tighter time frames!
